TimberFish Technologies, a developer of innovative aquaculture agriculture technologies, today announced that it will have a Ground Breaking Ceremony for its first commercial demonstration project on Wednesday, June 1, 2016 at Mazza’s Five & 20 Spirits & Brewing at 8398 West Main Road (Route 20) in Westfield, NY.
TimberFish was incorporated as an LLC in New York State in 2008 to commercially apply over 40 years of developmental work on ecologically sustainable agriculture by one of its founders, Jere Northrop, Ph.D. Dr. Northrop has extensive experience in the environmental sector having worked with agricultural, industrial food processing, and municipal wastewater treatment systems and large nutrient and manure management systems for the dairy and hog industries.
The TimberFish demonstration project will produce fish by reusing all the byproduct nutrients from the distillery and brewery production at the site. These will be combined with locally produced wood chips to sustainably generate a food chain that produces contaminant free, high quality fish such as trout and salmon at an economically attractive price. The facility has a state issued discharge permit and its only waste will be a salable high energy biofuel.
Dr. Northrop states that “The TimberFish mission is based on the belief that the only way that environmentally sustainable technology can be effectively adopted on a wide scale is to conclusively demonstrate superior environmental compatibility coupled with highly competitive economics.”
The ground breaking celebration and ribbon cutting ceremony will be held Wednesday, June 1st, 2016, at 11 AM, on the project site at Mazza’s Five & 20 Spirits & Brewing, 8398 West Main Road (Route 20) in Westfield, NY.
