Aquapreneur.com for marine biotech and marine ingredient news

Posted by admin

Aquapreneur.comOur friends at Strategro International recently upgraded their website – Aquapreneur.com® - to better provide its global readership with an interactive platform for collaboration, networking, and acceleration of commercial developments within the marine biotechnology, marine products and marine ingredients sectors.

What does this have to do with aquaculture? Well, cultivating aquatic animals and plants for food is only one use of these resources. If we look at these same aquatic organisms as renewable resources to provide a diverse array of bioactives, ingredients, and products for novel applications, then aquaculture starts to look a whole lot more interesting.

As we have said for many years, eating our aquatic resources is only one use, and often the least value use, for these resources. But what if we took a larger view? Farming the next generation of pharmaceutical products, or environmental mitigation/remediation products, for example, opens up a whole new frontier for the application of aquaculture science & technology.

Getting back to Strategro International, they have updated Aquapreneur.com® to allow more interaction from readers, including comment postings and a discussion forum, which provides a platform for news submissions, networking, and collaborative exchanges.

Steve Dillingham, Principal of Strategro International, commented to us that, “The response we have gotten since the original site went on-line has been fantastic, with a growing database of well over 3,500 like-minded Aquapreneurs from all over the world viewing and/or contributing to the site.”

“With the growth of marine biotechnology increasing at such a rapid rate, and as a result, new developments and applications ranging from algae for biofuel to marine extracts and ingredients for human health and nutrition, we needed to make the site more dynamic to accommodate the increased coverage.”

Related to the Aquapreneur® website, Strategro International has started an Aquapreneur® networking group for professionals on Linkedin, intended to provide a more robust networking platform for Aquapreneur enthusiasts and readers. You are invited to join the Aquapreneur® LinkedIn Group.
